I think the blocks look good but I agree w/Geri B that it's the light sashing that is throwing you off. I would go for natural muslin (it's a bit darker than cream) instead of the light. W/the homespun's it will look more masculine IMHO. But if you leave it cream it will still look great and he will still love it I'm sure.
