I just unrolled a jelly roll. The fabrics are stacked from light to medium to dark -- they are all shades of blue. I was told to just start sewing them as they come off the pile.
I have done this quilt several times and each time I throw all my strips into a brown paper bag and pull one out at a time. I sew them together as they come so the quilt is random.
You can start and see however you wish.
