Cecelia...just my 2 cents here. I have cut many cotton garments and find that 5 inch squares and 2 1/2 inch squares (not 2 inch as you mentioned) seem to be very convenient sizes to use in projects. (Don't know if you are a long time quilter, but remember you will lose 1/2 inch from each square of fabric when sewn into a quilt block). As I said...just my 2 cents...
