while you will probably have to re-do that large difference, starch is your answer. Anytime I know I'll be working with lots of bias I starch,starch,starch before I even cut. On the long arm, it's sometimes possible to get wavy border to behave with lots of spray starch and some steam. You might try that with that very wide side to see if it will shrink and stablize some.
