I've had a Susan Bates "Peg It" knitting counter for many years but it looks like it is no longer available. I did find this one made by Pony

Bobby pins make great stitch markers. I have the medium 2 inch long ones but I find them a bit too long. There a smaller 1.25 inch bobby pins that might be a better choice.
