Just to throw another wrinkle into your puzzle--the pattern you linked, uses a constant background. That means that you will either need yardage (the least expensive option) or a plain coloured layer cake. So if one thinks of yardage and 10 inch squares, in a perfect world, you can get 12 from 30 inches and 60 (one square will make 2 blocks) out of 150 inches--that's just over 4 yards.

So, for 120 HST's, you would need only1 1/2 layer cakes but yardage too.

But also, the size 90x108 would be if one wanted a pillow tuck. I make my queens only 90x90. That also means that they can be turned so that all edges will get the same amount of wear.
