It's a beautiful wall hanging and you did a great job on it. Some people truly just don't appreciate anything hand made; it's a shame but all too true. You did it with love in your heart so please feel good about that. You have no control over the reactions of others so please don't let it get you down. Many of us have been there and totally understand but to be blunt, it's their loss.

My son and his wife think quilting is silly and that I waste my time with all the work. I made a patriotic lap quilt for her grandfather's wheelchair (he is a WWII veteran) and they were shocked at his reaction when he said he felt so appreciated and loved by all the work. Some people just don't get it; its not a flaw in their character-they just see things differently. It doesn't stop me from making whatever I can for Quilts of Valor,
    Wounded Soldiers and Haiti.

I think your father owes you an apology. To receive such a gift from his own child is an honor and, no less, your first that regardless of how it turned out, he should have thrown his arms around you in thanks.

You did nothing wrong. It came out beautiful and you should be proud. I know it hurts, but don't let it lessen your love for quilting and I'm sure the next thing you give to someone, will be truly appreciated.

My Air Force husband and I LOVE your quilt. My husband even said that he would proudly display your quilt in his office at work if he received one as beautiful as yours.

I am sooooooooo sorry for your pain!
I can't believe a Dad would be so insensitive to a daughter like that!!

I am sending a BIG HUG your way!

By the way, for a first quilt...WONDERFUL job!

It is absolutely beautiful. Have felt your pain before. Remember, it is not about you, your hard work, and sentiments it is about his inability to appreciate and/or accept a true gift of love. Please don't be discouraged. If you would retrieve it and send it to any veteran's hospital it would be greatly appreciated. If you need an address of one I would gladly pm it to you. Many hugs.

I still think it is a VERY interesting pattern...What is the name?
Where did you get the pattern. Better "man" pattern than most.
