I use a 9 between, I wish I could find bigger....and I only put two or three stitches on the needle at a time, sometimes they look nice sometimes a little crooked, but I just move along, I'm new and it takes practice, practice, practice......It is very relaxing.

Go to your local library and check out this book "Quiltmaking by Hand: Simple Stitches, Exquisite Quilts by Jinny Beyer ".....it is a 'have to' read on handquilting...love this book!! You will find it not only very helpful but inspiring! Skeat
