I have a Handi-quilter frame and a janome 1600p machine to do my quilting. I plan to do free motion quilting.
It's been a long time since I have actually quilted a quilt. And since this one has to be together just right, I am pinning it together before I put it on the handi-quilter. Can I use green thread on the back, or would that look silly. I think cream or grey wouldn't look right.
Sorry about the fuzzy pics. Not so steady of an arm.

I usually use verigated threads that way they blend in better. What color are you using on the top? Green would look great on the back and if you are just getting started your wobbles won't be so noticable.

Unless your tension balance is very good, you have the possibility of the top thread showing on the bottom or the bobbin thread showing on the top. Also, it sounds like this is your first quilt on your handi quilter and it also sounds like this is a special one. I don't want to be discouraging, but if this is the case, I would sure want to do at least one practice quilt before attempting a 'real' one.
