That is really cute. I'm thinking the placemat is cut in half and sewn on all three sides. Box the two bottom corners and do a french seam on them. Just guessing, it's a little early for me to focus on the pics to really tell. They look pretty easy to make. Are you going to make some?

Our guild had a class yesterday and I missed it , they used a single placemat and folded it in 1/2 to make a small purse . The one pictured I am going to guess is 2 placemats one for each side and boxed at the bottom, it seems larger than what I saw last night. I am going to the mall this afternoon to see if I can get the placemat and napkins to give it a try over the weekend. I will post if I can get the supplies.

ITA ... looks like two placemats together for the purse. Napkins for the pockets and handles.

Thats pretty much the version the gals made yesterday they also added a pocket outside, I think the one in the link is 2 placemats. I was able to get 2 mats and 2 matching napkins and am now trying to figure out to best use the napkins for the inside pockets and handles to get the most mileage from them.....
    Thanks for the link !!!

I would think that one could do this with any cloth placemat/napkins.........I have a VB purse...given as a gift....love it it is reversible with two different designs.........can't wait for summer so I can bring it out again.......
I would like to know where to find the pattern for the snap purses - the ones that use the ruler for the closing....anyone know
