That WAS a yummy site, Muv. I LOVE shot cottons though I have, so far, resisted them. I'm too easily obsessed with new fabric treasures...first marbles, then solids, now batiks...I'm a very sad case.

We do have them here, meaning this side of the pond, QuiltE. Kaffe Fassett's line is often said to be one of the best quilting weight shot cottons and sells for about 20% less than the site Muv pointed to, around $9.50USD per yard. This site has the entire line. http://www.gloriouscolor.com/store.php?cat=126 (I have a reputation for being an enabler...)

Then I will be on the look-out for them!!!
I just discovered KF last year, thanks to many posts on this Board ... and saw them IRL for the first time last summer during a Shop Hop at a small store who carries the full line of KF. Not a lot of stores have them ... don't know if that's their choice? or if perhaps it's kept as an exclusive thing?

He's coming this fall ... and I'm signed up for one of the workshops
    http://www.hyggeligt.ca/04-october-2...ist-available/

Just checked the site, and didn't see any shots ... though I bet she has them!! I'll be there during the Shop Hop this summer to stock up on my fabrics for the workshop, and will be on the lookout for them. Maybe I can even use them?

I'll have you know ... I shouldn't have gone to your site ... I saw the stripes. Would be oh so wonderful to use for bindings. Maybe it's good news that the LQS that sells KF is NOT "local" to me!!!!!!!!

Glad you saw the site. I'm not sure I would use their shot cottons for piecing, but they are perfect for applique.

    Been busy today.

Oooooh aaaaah .... would that be the rose?
Are you actually doing the blanket stitch with the machine? I was thinking it was all by hand!
What weight of thread are you using for the blanket stitch?

I was thinking that the shots were maybe a little coarser .... and guess what? I was thinking applique too!

Hello QuiltE, no, it's not the rose, it's an arabesque at the top of the wall hanging. The blanket stitch is done by hand. My machines only do straight stitch. I'm putting in the first line of quilting around the applique. On this picture you can see the machine stitching where I am going round the inside the nought of 2012.

Thanks Muv!! I didn't think that your machine would be able to do other stitches, yet it looked like it was! In this pic I can SEE what you are doing .... looking pretty darned nice!!!

Everyone's projects are looking great... I've not been able to sit down and sew since I finished up dgs's nap blanket. My dd arrived in Texas alright and though she says she is exhausted she is happy she is finally there. House feeling empty atm. I need to shift gears and get busy back at the sewing machine.. that will cure my bleakness Im sure. Have a wonderful day.

Jenniky - Yes, cosy up to the machine again or, play with your stash. I find that just pulling out a bundle and reminding myself what is in it can go a long way to lifting my spirits.

Good to know she has arrived safe and sound.
