Beautiful work! I'm jealous of all those neat stitch types.

There's a bunch of us young'uns hanging around, but we're few and far between. I'm 29 and I still get the odd look from other patrons at the LQS. Thankfully the employees know me by now!

However, there is such a thing as Modern Quilting and that's what the survey is referring to. I'm still new to the quilting world, but modern quilting is quite different visually than traditional quilting and appeals to a much younger set of seamstresses!

The article is worded rather specifically. Modern quilting is a specific genre. If they are talking about the genre of "modern" then I would agree with the % of quilters in that age group.
Your quilt is lovely. When I read the statement that McCall made, I noted the word, "modern" and I immediately thought of the type of quilting, so I agree with with feline fanatic's assessment above. I didn't get interested in quilting until 10 years after retiring.

I love this quilt, would have never guessed that the squares were 30 years old! I am old enough to remember the fabric but don't. Would love to see it remade as your quilt is quite charming. You did an amazing job!!!!!

Your quilt is lovely, but I think the statistics were made up by someone trying to get younger people involved because it would be good for business. All you have to do is look around where quilters gather. Maybe the young ones are in hiding? Or maybe they are just too busy to go to guilds and quilt shows. Or maybe quilting makes us look old.
