I use an armless secretarial chair. On wheels and swivels. I have one at each machine.

Go to the office supply store. Play Goldilocks. On at least 80% of the chairs you can put them together with or with out arms.

Okay, I must be weird as most replies state they use a wheeled chair.......

I use an antique ice cream chair. I added a cushion. Of course my sewing machines (vintage, portables) sit on top of a cast iron Singer treadle base. This is just the cast iron, no cabinet. I attached an old style butcher block to the top of the cast iron.

I have an office chair with 5 wheels and 3 adjustments. If the chair you checked is comfortable then go for it. If you get it "just because it's cute" you may not be doing your back any favors. We spend a lot of hours on our backside in front of the machine - we need to be kind to our body.

I just got a "new" to me chair to use in my sewing room. (Free from my office). It's an old conference room chair that is styled like the one in the picture below except it's black with a fabric seat. Very comfy. I can't wait to use it.

I bought a nice office chair at goodwill for $10. It rolls, swivels and has adjustable height. I've see them redone with nice fabric and plastic paint. I see the smaller ones for $5 at goodwill often.

I love my swivel chair. I can move around and get things in my room without getting up. That's the only chair I will use.

I have a stool with an attached padded seat. Chairs were a little too short. I need to be up a little so my back and shoulders don't ache.
