3rd Annual Christmas Ornament Swap

that's how you do it but I used a spoon to push it in ( aren't Mom's great She made them in the late 60's or early 70's)
My mom used to make the Christmas balls and she also did eggs at Easter...this is the way that she did them...you get a styrofoam ball and you cute squares, rectangles, etc. in small pieces of fabric...you just lay it on the ball and gently push the fabric in to the foam...my mom would use a small screwdriver or a nail file to push the fabric in...you just have to be careful not too push in too far or the styrofoam will fall apart. Sometimes she would cover the seams with rick rack (attach with glue gun), other times she would leave seams as they are...she would use a straight pin to attach a piece of rick rack at the top to form a ribbon to hang on the tree....hope that helps.

There are a lot of youtube videos on making those fabric balls. I made one but not a very elaborate design, just segments like an orange. You will make it easier on yourself to draw it out with a pencil on the ball, then take an x-acto knife or box cutter and cut along your marks. Use a small amount of glue on the segment you're working on, then place the fabric on it, slightly bigger than the segment, and work alternating sides with a thin flat blunt object to shove it into the seam. Trim off excess then smooth the rest into the slot. I have this plastic purple clay tool that I used that had a pointy wedge at one end that worked wonderfully, except when I missed the seam and was damaging the ball instead of shoving in the seam. If it hadn't been for that damage I might not have glued some ribbon over my seams, but the ribbon hid my divet. hehe. So I would also suggest taking your flat blunt object and just running it through your slit before you start trying to shove fabric in. It will make it easier.
I loved the santa undies when I posted them, but I love them even more with those adorable cute clothes pins. I have some... more reason to want to make them

I am recognizing some of these ornaments, made them with my kids many years ago. So adorable. Brenda, you going to put them all on display in the groups for photos? Would be so cool to see them all there. I think you have done that before.

Ok you all talked me into it, I am going to try my hand at making them! i have several Styrofoam balls of different sizes and some trim in gold and silver!
I am still in my jammies, with this darn cold! Hubby went to Orange County to finish painting house, (I usually am his assistant, cleaning paint brushes and getting lunch for the crew). I am here alone and looking for something to do that does not require too much energy!
If I get any finished I will post pics!

ok on card prices I guess the question is how much would you PAY for one? you walk into a store what is your idea of reasonable.. its not about how much time we put into it ifyour selling at a craft show unfortunately.. no one gets it and I wonder if they even care.. money is tight and for me $6.50 is no way I am not rich I couldnt do it no matter how truly pretty your card is.. $2.50 to 4.50 however is a could happen possibility. I guess maybe you could ask everyone how much would you pay and post a pic of one? NO waMorning everyone and its a lovely frosty one at that 35 and going to get colder today. I think a little fire would be lovely and what an excellant idea.
I was wondering here for those who are completed and with a tiny bit more time if I could ask.. I am making ornaments, room decoration pieces extra for a lower income Senior home. For the rooms of those who cant leave their beds for the dining room also for those who can. Little things, also I just thought maybe eye glass cases just sleeves really in bright colors? lose fiting so easy in easy out but bright colors so they can be easily found? if you have a spare bit of time would you like to make a few to donate also? So many have no one and no cards (hey you could send cards to be handed out that would be great too just sign a nice wish and i could gift those to them also).. just any small item so each can have something. I have posted in requests but was thinking maybe just maybe a few of you might have time.. let me know in PM hoping the end of the first week of November to have gathered everything I can up. so what I am missing I can find maybe at the thrift store or walmart if need be. thanks guys I appreciate your time on this now I will shush up. (lol for a while)y am I trying to minimize what your putting in. I just sold a bunch of stuff on the old craft faire circle and saw what people bought in quantities and what they looked at but didnt purchase. others here can tell you too.. to those who have already offered to help THANK YOU SO MUCH to those considering it please say yes.
