    Thank you all so much for ALL your comments and suggestions, they all have really boosted my confidence in trying to FMQ, I 'think' it came out OK for a beginner. I think I will tackle another now! LOL Here is a couple of pics, this one is for the single Dad, and the one for the toddler was quilted in spirals in each square and edge was done in stars and loops. Again, THANK YOU!

    this was a FAMILY endeavor with non sewers and sewers---it's a miracle that even we got the quilt squares together! LOL

    Very good job on the border. I love the colors in your quilt too. It's so cool that family members worked on it together.
