What a marvelous idea. Thank you for sharing it. All I can say is, why didn't I think of that?

P.S. When I use tape, I use painter's tape (the green stuff) instead of masking tape as it seems to have less glue on it.

Looks like a good tip. I might try to use painter's tape because the masking tapes seem to come VERY sticky. Wish I would have known about this tip when I was making my first queen quilt. Had all of the little strips and squares on the design wall and had left the window open to my sewing room that night. We had a really strong wind come through and I don't need to tell you what happened. I did have enough sense to take a pic of the unsewn pieces once I got them on the wall so I was able to sort through the pieces that ended up on the floor and recreate it, but it would have been easier to just pick up taped strips from the floor. Lesson learned!

the masking tape wasn't sticky at all and at times a couple pieces fell off. I have never had trouble with masking tape but I'm sure we don't all get the same brand - sometimes I find that the masking tape isn't as sticky if it is a brand new roll, as you get further in some times it is stickier but I have never had any stick on the fabric.
