    Beautiful if you ask me. I didn't attempt one of those till I was 7 or 8 years into quilting, and trust me, didn't look that good.

    It looks good. What is your concern? There is usually a slight bit of pull-in on applique. If that is it, just cut the background block a little larger than you want and then trim to the finished size plus 1/2".
