    Default Using the same pattern

I haven't been quilting to long and have always made a quilt with a new pattern.
I made a really pretty shades of blue and white flannel quilt and now I have
purchased material that I think would look great using the same pattern.
Do any of you use the same pattern over again? I guess I like the challenge
of a new pattern but when nothing else seems to fit the material ........

A pattern looks so different when it's made of different materials - sometimes I have to really concentrate to see that it's the same pattern -

I think it's kind of fun to make something when I more or less know what I'm doing.

I love log cabin blocks and did few of them and one was king size so yes and I agree with bearisgray that the quilt looks different when the fabric is different used with the same pattern so go for it...

Oh yes! Lucky Stars by Atkinson Designs is one I've made several of. Each one looks so different because of the different colors I've used. Disappearing 9 patch, log cabin, french braid are others I've done a few of.

I agree that changing the fabrics makes it a different quilt. I often design my own from scratch and only use them once, but some I use over and over. I particularly like using 10" HSTs for friendship stars and sawtooth stars using large scale kid fabrics. those are always a hit with the charities I give to. Are you asking if it is OK to reuse a purchased pattern, the answer is still yes.

i love variety. but if i'm in need of a quicker project to meet a deadline, i'll use a pattern that i've done before. when someone has asked me to make one for them that i don't want to part with, it's just not as fun to do. i am doing 3 Dear Janes this year... the scrappy seems to be my 'practice' block and the red/white will go on my bed. the third i'm thinking of selling to offset the cost of my red/white

I quilt with a group of ladies the first Sat. of every month, we have been doing this for about 4 years now. We each make our own quilt but we all use the same pattern and our choice of fabrics. Some times the look is so different its hard to tell its the same pattern.

one year our lqs was offering a 'saturday sampler' program in 3 different color/style fabric choices- i decided to do all 3-then went home & added 3 more---so by the end i had 6 quilts-all the same patterns, all different fabric choices---all so different it was amazing! i made them in: thimbleberries darks, 30's with white, batiks, neutrals (all creams) and flannels and novelties (kids prints) it was great fun to see how different each block looked- each quilt came out to be so different===and why spend money of a pattern if you are never going to make it again? that seems like just collecting dust- i don't think i would every buy a pattern that i could not see numerous possibilities from- i never make the same quilt twice- but i certainly get plenty of use from patterns.

I have made several patterns more than once. Using different fabrics and colors change the look.
