Interesting, seems the key might be more in the fabric used than the patterns.

It would be both colour (bright and/ or "Southwest") and the actual pattern. Search under "Aztec" quilt patterns. Here is an example to get you going: http://www.quilterscache.com/A/AztecLogsBlock.html

You also might want to look at "Eye of God" -- ojo de Dios -- examples. I think there is on of the Quilterscache site as well.

And, not a quilt, but here is a pic of traditional Mexican blanket designs that could easily be translated into a quilt pattern: http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=...electedIndex=0

I've done many a "eye of God" ornaments in yarn. Love them.. When I was glancing thru the deigns I thought the blanket design would translate well into a rag quilt with crossways stipes.

I would just do maybe a traditional pattern in very bright colors, because from the link above the bright colors seem to be the thing that sticks out at me

Mexico has a great heritage in woven blankets, but not much quilting. Google images of Mexican textiles and you can see lots of ideas. A central panel of an applique of a traditional animal surrounded by piano key border in bright colors. http://needlepoint.about.com/od/alph...kArtAnimal.htm

Check out Jane Tenorio-Coscarelli's 1/4 Inch designs. She has some great Mexican quilt patterns. Burrito Boy and the Tamale Quilt are some. Hope you find what you want!

    Default I found something!!!

I found the link below that has a Hispanic children's book and a quilt pattern to make a quilt that corresponds with the book. I am a beginner quilter so I am unsure which one to pick out, and it's for a baby boy that is going to be born in June. Please check it out and let me know which one I should do. TIA!
