I think White made it for Kenmore. I have a Kenmore, but it was made by Janome. I guess Sears never made any of their own machines.

Just use sewing machine oil and gentle persuasion. You will soo have it looking quite respectable. Easy does it. It certainly is worth saving. It is a neat machine.

I have seen those sewing machines also called "mixmasters". With a cleaning and oiling with sewing machine oil she (he?) should stitch fine. Was it in a case or cabinet? If I found it I would certainly try to bring it back to life.

OMG. I first learned how to sew on one of these. back in the 50's. brings back many fine memories. yes it is a kenmore from sears but was built by white. it even had the little wheel on the side to push when filling bobbins. I bet it probably weighs about 25#s. it goes into a cabinet. I wonder what happened to my mothers old kenmore. I was on top of the world when I brought my first sewing machine from my babysitting money. it was a montgomery wards with cams to do a zig zag stitch. $35 and it was top of the line (brought used, 2yr old, 1964). I agree with the rest of the comments, find the power cord and foot pedal, and oil it well. again, many happy memories. thank you

Thanks everyone for all your help and comments. I'll try the magnet. No cabinet or case found. I suspect if it were here she would have stored it in it. Unfortunately some people carried off a lot of her stuff in her latter years before I started taking care of her before she passed away. I will update you all along and thanks so much for your suggestions, help and comments!

According to DH, it is cast iron and White made Kenmore machines. Sears never made the products, they retailed the products manufactured by others with the Kenmore (store brand) name on it. Now Sears has gotten away from that a lot and sells more named brand products. In our opinion, any of the vintage machines are worth restoring. It is a part of your history and family items. My sister had one of these in a cabinet in her garage, her MIL bought it at a garage sale. I think it was thought that her more recent plastic sewing machine could go in the cabinet (of course not). So it sat and she finally gave it to me when she moved. A lot of Tri-flo, Howard's refinisher on the cabinet, she ran good again. I re-homed it last year since I didn't have room to keep cabinet machines but it went to a good home to be used.

Lift up the plate and see if you have the bobbin case. They can be hard to find but Sew-Classic has the bobbins. PM me if you want a .pdf manual. I found a free one online and would sent it to you.
