    Default Border suggestions, please?

This is the first time I have ever tried to use up scraps, and I am unsure of what to do for borders. I don't have enough of any these fabrics for borders, though I have a pretty good sized stash of similar colors.

So, what would you suggest? I normally do a small inner border and a larger outer one. Would that look good? What colors would you select? Thanks for any advice.

maybe time to experiment a little. how about a braid border. or small 4 patches. how about one of those folded borders next to the main top then a small 4 patch? looks good.

I love your scrappy quilt. I really don't think this type of quilt needs a border, but if you want one, you might try a narrow inner border of some dark color (or colors) and then an outer scrappy border of either squares or piano keys.

This is a really pretty patchwork! It looks like you would have the most of 'mid-tone' fabrics to use for the border, but I wonder if simply sewing all of them together in really small sections darkest to light then back to dark would work...(Similar to a Skinner blend in polymer clay (LINK) ) Then you'd maybe have a border that wasn't looking AS patchwork as the center?

Wow, good suggestions already, and I never thought of it not needing a border! I have only been quilting 3 years, so many things are still new to me. I am just beginning to get the "design wall" in my head to work. Am going to try to picture these different ideas.

    Thanks.

I agree with dunster, with a dark narrow inner border and if you had a yellow fabric for an outer border you might be able to bring some of the yellow in the quilt out...

I think a narrow white border and then a piano key border with as many of the fabrics or similar from the center.

I really agree this quilt does not need a border, but if you really want one Dunsters idea is great!

YOUR QUILT IS A BEAUTY. I think I would put a narrow yellow boarder and the about a 4inch blue.
