Default 1964 Featherweight made in Great Britian

My friend, (no really), is thinking of purchasing a 1964 Singer Featherweight on ebay. She would like to know if this is a good machine to buy. It is close enough to where we live she could go and pick it up if she won the auction.
We have heard the new featherweights are so good. Can anyone please advise me so I can send the info to my friend?

The FW is my favorite sewing machine to piece on-----it is so smooth and has such even stitches.....Iam working on a 1946 right now and I love it!!!!

I have featherweights also but they are old ones. What I was wondering about is the newer ones. The Great Britian, 1960's one. Are they the great machine the older ones are?

I have 2 white FW's and find that they are cleaner (used less, I guess) than the 7 black ones I've bought from the states. Haven't heard anything yet on the new ones, but I'd like to.

What electrical supply does the motor need? If it was made in GB, it might not work here without switching the motor out.

I have several that were made in GB and using them here isn't a problem. My FWs are older, the youngest being a 1947, but I LOVE them and use at least one of them daily!

I have a 1964 Featherweight that my mom gave to me when I was 15. I learned to sew on it. I use it now to piece quilts. It's quite as a mouse and runs like brand new. I have 4 more FW's that I will be giving to my grandchildren. Hope she wins the auction. She won't be disappointed.

I have 2 white ones and 3 black ones-they are very well made and easy to maintain.
