How are threads chosen

I would like to know how the headline threads are chosen. It says most active topics and some of the only have one or two pages of replies and then they are carried over into the next days threads with no more replies the second day. Just curious.

I think you would get a better response from the help section for the board on this subject. It is all the way down on the bottom of the list of topics/sections.

they aren't chosen.
it's an arbitrary software routine.
they aren't the newest threads.
they aren't necessarily the best or most interesting.
they are just the ones that get the most views.
and that happens because so many people stick to looking only at the threads on that list.
a lot of really good threads die from neglect because people won't venture past that list.
