We have uniform shirts at work with a patch of our logo sewn on. We have a new logo now. I took the old patch off and it has made an 'outline' in the shirt where the logo was sewn on. The new logo is more narrow than the old logo so the thread holes/stitching show from the old logo. Is there anyway to smooth the old thread holes/stitching out so the outline/thread holes of the old logo doesn't show.

I have been able to close holes by spraying the area with Magic Sizing and Ironing. I also wash before doing this. Sometimes just washing will close the holes.

Try washing after running your fingernail over the holes from the back, iron and see how they look. Holes from embroidery tend to be pretty bad and you may need to add something behind the new patch to cover the holes. Sacrificing one shirt and making a pocket over the spot (if it's in a good spot) may be one way to go.

I used some dark iron on interfacing on the inside of my husbands' shirts.

I worked in sewing factories a looonnnggg time.
We used to mist with water, then take a popcicle stick & rub across gently.
This put the fibers back where they belonged.

Use a very soft toothbrush and, after getting the fabric very wet and soapy, carefully brush the fabric. The holes should close up.

Thank you for the suggestions. I used the popsicle stick and then used Magic Sizing and it really worked! I love this website! Thanks everyone.

I used a Sharpie and called it done.

You can make a patch behind the patch with a cute contrasting fabric.
