    I learned to do FMQ using the panels, I followed the lines and it looked like I knew what I was doing.

    I used to think these WERE cheating ... USED to. Lots of them are pretty and give you the interesting color/pattern combo without the piecework. Friend sewed up a bunch for lap quilts one year -- recipients were thrilled, and she had requests for many more.

    They're my favorite go-to for quick baby gifts. I machine quilt them and tell the giftee that they're meant to be USED and can be machine-washed and dried.

    My wonderful friend who passed away several years ago would not let me refer to fabric or quilts as "cheater". She always told me they were "convenience fabrics or convenience quilts". She said when you use the fabric and quilt it, it is a quilt so it is not cheating. It sunk in and I do sometimes use "convenience" fabrics for my quilts.
