My husband made a joke tonight about how sometimes I buy fabric and THEN find a pattern it would go well with and other times I have the pattern and then choose fabrics for it, and how it reminded him of " What came first the chicken or the egg ?" and I wanted to see what you all do !
Most of what I do comes from my stash. But at times I buy fabric because I love it.
Right now, I'm in the market for a corduroy to go with some bright pink homespun that I reclaimed from a bed ruffle. Will be yet another rag blanket.

Oh it is so wonderful to know I am not alone ! I love fabric ! I love patterns too, though I don't ever tend to use them as they are written LOL, so they are more inspiration than followed as written LOL

I have to admit to most of the time buying fabric and then the pattern but then I usually have to buy more fabric to finish out what is needed to make the pattern. I wish I could be like a friend of mine who finds the pattern and then buys just what she needs. Sigh = don't think I will fulfill that wish!

Occasionally I will buy fabric for a specific quilt, but mostly I buy fabric that I like, guess how much to buy, and bring it home. Next time I'm shopping, I see something that may go with what I already have (and sometimes it works, other times it's not the right color). I know it's wild but that's what I do.
