And just FYI, Leonard Green & Partners LP bought out JoAnn's Fabrics and Crafts in January 2011 for an estimated $1.6 billion, taking it into private ownership (this according to Forbes, below).

Other companies owned by Leonard Green (a huge private equity firm) include Whole Foods Market, PetCo, Rite Aid, David's Bridal, The Container Store, Sports Authority, and FTD Group Inc.

I don't see how JoAnn's could get much worse, unless they start charging more for the inferior cottons they sale. There are very few premium cottons available there now. I avoid that place like the plague. We can always hope they will improve, carry better products and be a store you want to shop in. Right now, not so much.

We can only hope for "change for the better". For the last few years my local Js has been very disappointing for me in their fabric selection.

This is an old thread from 2010. It is now 2014 (just barely), which means it happened three years ago. Why is this 2010 thread interspersed with 2014 threads?

This post began in 2010--I think whatever was going to happen already has.

Yep as far as I can see J's has not gotten any better and if this thread is 3 years old everything that is going to happen already has and I haven't seen any improvement so far!

well, I am personally going to go back in as soon as the snow melts, and the weather tames down a little here in Michigan. and I am taking a brand new bolt of $12 a yard muslin with me, to show them, the dirty material in the bolt. has this ever happened to anyone else? I had to cut it, and I washed it before I used it. otherwise, I would have returned it. looked like it had been splattered, and then 'what to me, looked like signs of bed bugs at one time in the material'. and yes, I know the difference between bug bug stains, and cotton gin by products.

How did this thread suddenly pop up 3 years after it happened?

Somebody must either be posting after running a "search" or reading the archives. Either way, it would be nice if the older threads were color-coded or something... not everyone checks the dates
