Rowenta Focus at Hancocks
I finally found a good iron without a auto shutoff. Hancock's has the Rowenta Focus on sale for $79.99. It seems to have all the good things that Rowenta irons have but most of all it doesn't have a auto shutoff. I shopped around and found it cheaper at AllBrands.com but it was backordered till who knows when. I am so excited. I hate auto shutoff on irons. I realize that they are a safety thing but I can remember to unplug when I turn off the light.

Just a tip for people with irons that don't have auto shutoff : I have a floor lamp and my iron plugged into a surge protector strip right by my door. I have to pass it to leave my room. I just flip the switch on the surge protector as I am leaving the room. If the lamp is on, I know my iron is on!!!

You couldn't get me to use a Rowenta if it was given to me free of charge. Those things are so dangerous, seems like every week someone's posting a horror story about a Rowenta arcing, catching fire, burning hands/fabrics/ironing boards, etc.
I have a Reliable Digital Velocity iron that is the best iron I've ever owned. As Dunster said, you can disable the auto-shutoff feature. It has a great steam generator.

I have had 2 Rowenta irons and have to say I don't think they are worth the money. My "normal" iron is just as good if not better. I am not familiar with Reliable Digital Velocity iron but will look into them. But then I am okay with the auto shut off - most of the time, lol - but I do move my iron every time I walk past.
oh just saw the price of the Reliable - I am sure now that I have done it - that I do not need to spend that much money for an iron. So many on this board are happier with their Black & Deckers.
