I've been using homemade spray starch for about two years now. Love it! Mine doesn't go bad! You add a tablespoon of lemon juice or rubbing alcohol to it. I got the recipe on here. I make a strong batch and use it on my applique, paint it on the edges with a paint brush, then iron and the edges stay put!!

Thank you for this information since my new toy is appliqué using this method, your timing is perfect. I will try it using the lemon juice to stop it from going bad quickly.

I've been using 1 cup of water and 2 tablespoons of Vodka with great success. Also cheap and no toxic smells.

I haven't heard anything negatively about Best Press except that it is a little expensive. I just wait until JoAnn's has it on sale online and sometimes they have it on sale with a mark-off on shipping. I use it exclusively!
