I am one of those people who doesn't like brown. Oh I have plenty of brown
in my stash, but to make a quilt with it doesn't won't happen for me.

Several years ago on another website I was challenged to make a baby
quilt using brown. I got everything cut out, and 1 row sewn, before the
road block hit me. Tried for 3 years to finish this baby quilt, but just couldn't
    do it.

To this day I can't even bring myself to open the little plastic shoe bin
    with the project in it.

I do use SOME brown in projects but no more than I have too.

As far back as I can remember brown has always been a color I didn't like.
I also remember as a child that my parents went to visit some friends of
theirs and of course us kids (my brother & I) was with them. I had on a
brown outfit, and Irene (parents friend) as my mom how long have I been
sick. Mom told her that I wasn't sick. She than made the comment that brown
is not a good color for me to wear because it "drained" my complexion to the
point of making me look ill.

Guess that must be about the time I started disliking the color. The ONLY
time I have ever worn brown since than was if it was a uniform (school, or work).
To this day I do NOT own any brown clothing.

I DO like light tan/khaki colors though.

Funny how someone could look at your beautiful quilts and say "I don't like brown!".

    Love fall colors!

Both your quilts are beautiful. I have to admit that I can admire brown and earth tone quilts, although brown is not one of my favorite colors. That said, my BF requested a log cabin quilt for her log cabin home several years ago and requested that it be brown. I found a pattern on the cover of a quilt magazine which combined log cabin blocks, and maple leaf blocks with an appliqued log cabin in the center of the quilt. With maybe one exception, I consider this quilt one of the best quilts I have ever made, she loved it, it hangs from her second floor balcony beside her fireplace and she tells me she proudly tells anyone who comments on it that I made it especially for her.

Those would be 2 of my favorite as well, they are beautiful. Generally I don't use a lot of brown in my quilts just because I use more blues and reds. Not saying I never use brown, just not usually.

[QUOTE=Madan49;6777235]I keep seeing people say "I don't like brown quilts." I just wonder why. These are two that I've made, and they are two of my favorites. Now I'm not saying YOU have to like them. Just wondering why so many people don't like brown in quilts?[/QUOTEIO
Obviously, I can't speak for everyone, but you did ask. First, let me say that your work is beautiful. However, I have never looked at a brown quilt and swooned. Brown is a neutral color and never, ever does a thing for me. Again, please don't be offended, but I find them boring and totally without visual appeal. I love the eureka pattern and didn't even recognize it in the brown. I want my quilts to be eye candy, not something that blends into the background. Everyone has their own tastes and mine lead me to work with beautiful colors.

Gorgeous quilts. I haven't made very many earth tone quilts but I like them.

I agree with you too. I love browns, especially in fall quilt. But, then again, I love COLOR, wherever it comes from. You know, like Brown and Turquoise
