Love to talk about food!!! Goulash in ND is, ground beef, rice, tomato sauce (with seasoning, aka S & P and onions, etc). Like my other reply to hot dish, same thing only rice instead of pasta.

Most times I use sausage instead of beef. I also put corn in mine. Mine pretty much tastes different every time I make it depending upon what spices I use....

That sounds like Cincinnati Chili to me!!!!! Chili over spaghetti (pasta). That is really good!!!!! Edie

PS - this sounds like another word that goes with casserole and hot dish. So why not goulash????? I guess that is why we are called The Melting Pot, eh?

Sounds like my chili-Mac. I think true goulash is chunks of beef, brownish- red gravy , carrots, potatoes, seasoned with paprika and those delightful noodles(spreatze-spelled wrong)......

I think my mom put rice in hers...maybe didn't have any macaroni?? I thought it was like Musgo soup, using up all leftovers in the fridge...so you say, this musgo, that musgo.

My mother's was the same as Bears but without the beans. I like the beans added and also a can of either tomato soup or tomato paste.

At our house, it’s Boiled Ground Beef, Bell Peppers, Onions, Chili Powder, & S&P sautéed in Olive Oil, with canned Diced Tomatoes, & Elbow Macaroni.

(We boil 10 pounds of ground beef at a time and bag it up in snack bags once it’s drained and cooled then freeze it. We make a lot of Mexican Food dishes, and boiling the meat helps to break it up as fine as possible for Tacos, plus removes a lot of the fat. Works great for Goulash too!)
