Default the Great Revolution Sewing Machine

When I was in St petersburg Russia I rented a room from a lady who spoke "difficult" english. She used this sewing maching even tho she had a new electric one. She said this machine sewed straight.

It started out as a treadle and was then electrified, but she changed it to a hand crank. Perhaps because of uncertain power. It had been her mothers machine -- bought in 1920 and treasured all thru the war -- even the 3 year seige of St Petersburg by the Germans.

Thought you might like to see it. There are so many Singer knockoffs around the world.

It certainly stood the test of time and hardship. I love the "old" machines. I don't think my plastic 2004 machine will be around sewing in 80+ years. I have 3 oldies that I use all the time.

That is an interesting machine. Are you a summer time Mainer? I noticed your duo location.

To me there is nothing in this world like the old machines. If we have an electricity outage, the new machines are not going to be good for anything. I love the old machines!!!!!

What a beautiful machine and it comes with such a unique story! I'm not sure I could sew using one hand to power the machine and one hand to guide the fabric. Even that is an art!
