Bibliostone, that double ribbon around that solid middle is awesome. Here is my FINISHED quilt. So promptly quilted and returned and wonderful job she did. Not sure there is much difference in these shots, but another one:

A couple of shots of the awesome quilting:

Our guild this year is doing the exact same thing so here is my new one in progress--very slow progress, I might add. I shamelessly pirated Carriem's center block as I thought that was awesome and wanted to do a variation of the compass. So I am back to auditioning and also working on a design that was supposed to be a no-brainer and it isn't. Have spent the last couple of days revisiting this entire thread and noting pages of things to try differently this time. So will see how it goes. Did finish one other top and have it slated to go to the quilter soon.

Here are two of the about 15 combinations I have come up with. Any feedback? Oh, have decided not to set it on point as that messes up the whole idea of the compass. So back to working with snsns themes. Thank you for letting me join your group. Jaba and Elisabrat were patient and awesome leaders and I appreciate all the kindly offered suggestions to improve my quilt. I am really very proud of it and am amazed that it turned out so wonderfully without an overall plan to start with. I now find that most of my projects are proceeding this way. I try something and if I don't like it, I feel much freer to eliminate it and go on, even without the pattern's approval. What's this about a new project in January? Cool. Hope everyone is well.

Biblio: Really turned out great? Amazing how the shapes mimic the peacock. Did you embroidery the corner squares in the ribbon round? Replicating shapes really makes a powerful statement. (Making note to self.)

Quilter65: Not only did your quilt turn out beautifully but the way the ribbon round (one of my very favorite) fits on your bed is just perfect. This was a winner from the start and it sure lived up to its potential! Your new one is going great, for what it's worth, I really like the pale blue. I think it really makes that gorgeous star jump right of the quilt.

Thanks everyone for your wonderful words. It is always nice to get positive feedback.

Quilter65: That looks beautiful. My quilting won't be that fancy since I rent time on a long-arm machine, but am not as skilled as those that do it for pay. But, I learn something with each quilt I do.

EmmaS: Yes, I did the corner embroidery of the peacock feather bouquets. I also did the smaller ones above and below the center peacock (which I did not do). I couldn't find a size that would make my ribbon come out the same on all 4 corners, that is why I put the larger, embroidered corners there. I thought it would be less obvious that way.

Bibliostone, I want to rent a machine soon myself after classes. But after test driving a model at a fair, I am now not so sure. As much time as I spend ripping little blocks, can't imagine what I would be doing if trying to quilt. I SOOOO admire that talent in all who have it.
