Using the PP method made everything MUCH simpler. I've got the pattern for three sizes (this one is the smallest) if anyone is interested. You need a wedge ruler.

Lori, thank you so much! With the braid, the whole quilt has so much movement. The colors are really spunking it up and I love the prints on the fabrics too. :D You've opened the door for anything to happen in future rounds and I can't wait to see how it grows next! Nice work!!

Neat border, Lori.
I have that same fabric - the one with horseshoes on it. It was going into a quilt for my GD, but it might just have to hang around here for while yet. Mine is in a different colour.

Woo Hoo! I think I've found the perfect pattern to use for Tisha's center! I don't know about the rest of you, but I've had a tough time coming up with a plan for 5 inches. I've found lots that would work for a 4" or 6" border, but this odd number thing has been a bit awkward. I'm already thinking ahead to the 7" down the road.
Stupid question time:
The pattern I'd like to use is for a 10" block. Can I just cut all the measurements in half to be a 5" size, or will that not account fully for the seam allowances?
I need to make one and just try it out. Will get out my machine this weekend and give it a go . . . . Wish me luck!
How's everyone else coming along? Hope your postal arrives soon Barbara!

Sew cornie...sounds like a plan. If the pattern calls for 10", I would think you could just reduce by 5"...if it allows for seam allowances at 10"..it should at 5"...right? That seems logical to me and I normally get in trouble when I think that way...so...good idea to try it out.
You know everyone that you can do a 1" border, then a 4" border to equal you 5"....sometimes that makes it easier. :D
