Love the panel. I would put borders on it, quilt it up and finish it off.
I think probably 55 x72" would be big enough.

I made my father a recliner quilt for his birthday a couple of years ago. He sleeps in his chair at least half the night. I wanted one that would hang over his feet without puddling on the floor and becoming a trip hazard, I also wanted it to be wide enough to cover him without getting entangled in the recliners mechanisms. My father is around 5'8", the quilt finished at around 50" x 60" and seems the perfect size for him. He still uses it every night, and reaches for it when he's cold.

WOW. I love it. It's great. I'm sure he's going to love it when it gets done.

just consulted with my 6' tall, men's L, about his quilt. he has a new heated body massage pad that fits the recliner. he has found the use of both makes him quite toasty. he, also. is a cancer survivor and gets cold easily. i think you've been given excellent ideas!

Love that panel, my matching fabric was different too. I used a small border around the panel, fussy cut the different tractors & black squares, followed by another border. I think mine finished 48 X 66, it was for a much smaller guy. I think the 50 X 70 ish would be perfect. Look forward to seeing the finish

Wool batting will keep you cool in summer and warm in winter. My husband complains I don't make quilts long enough. He is 6' and I usually make 72" lengths.
My son has worked for Cat Financial for 13 years may have to find this fabric.

Progress so far. The bottom checkerboard is sewn, but the cornerstones are not attached. It's about 53" wide and 60" long (including the missing bottom) right now. I might keep the width as is, but will be adding another yellow/black border to the top and bottom.
