Are there any memory quilts with photo blocks here?

Nabobw, amazing quilt!!!
I made several a few years back. I had a book I'd bought years ago that described the process, but I ended up "winging it" and making them after I drew out what I wanted. I gave the book away, or I'd happily send it to you.
I seem to be better at following my "own crazy". Lol
I managed to get a pic of a corner of one of the quilts I made. I machine pieced it, but I hand quilted it. I'm a mostly self taught quilter, and this was among my 1st quilts...so go easy on me.

I didn't and still wouldn't quilt through the photos. I had my photos professionally transferred to my fabric. I tried it at home, back in the late 1990's it did not work. The book I had did not quilt through the photos either. I think the holes left by the needle and the quilting threads would distort the pics. But I've not seen a quilt with quilting through the pics. It'd be interesting to see how it looks. It may be just fine.

If you find you must quilt through the photos as in doing an edge to edge quilting design. Use a fine quilting thread like Superior's So Fine 50 weight in a color that will not detract too much from the pictures. Also the quilting design shows less if it does not stitch back over itself as it stitches out.

This is a quilt I made for my BFF's 70th birthday. We met when we were 13. I used photos I had from over the years plus ones I received from her daughter. Using Picasa, I made collages into themes. I printed each collage onto 8.5 X 11 Printed Treasures fabric sheets. to California. I loved making it for her; it brought back many wonderful memories. I quilted around each picture in the collages.
