This is glorious work! The geometry is so simple yet looks so complex!

I was just wondering....if I wanted to make this quilt in 4 colors, (2 darks and 2 lights) to make a standard size quilt top, how much fabric should I buy in each of the 4 colors. Charm packs usually have many different colors, so I would cut my own squares but I have no idea how much fabric to purchase. Can anyone help me?

Bear with me as I type out the math.
A charm pack is 42 - 5inch squares so you would get 8 from each 5" strip, so your looking at about 30 inches x WOF of each colour. Personally would just get the yard of each to make sure I had extras, more if you wanted to use some of it in the borders.

Thanks so much for the reply. One more question....does that mean that if I buy 1 yd. of each of the 4 colors...that would be equal to 4 charm packs? Not sure if that is what is needed to make a standard size quilt (4 charm packs). Thanks again for the help. I will give it a try.

What size are the charm pack pieces. Also can you use other sizes such as a six and one-half? I love the modified 4-patch you created.

charm packs are typically 5 inch squares. but as long as you did the math you could use any size squares to begin with.
