Embellishments ok?

Embellishments ok?
I entered my wall hanging in the local fair but realized I don't know if embellishments are allowed or not? The dragon has a crystal as an eye. Will this get us disqualified from the competition?

Our fair judges are not REALLY judges at all, just a panel of people pulled together to do the job. If it is in aa juried show there should have been published rules. If you have it entered in a traditional category they might be more strict. If it is an "art quilt" most anything goes. Good luck, I hope you take a ribbon!

I agree, it all depends on different factors and I also hope you take a ribbon. Please post a pic when you can.

The only "rules" that were included were that it was a wall-hanging, the size, that it had to be done on a domestic machine and that it had to have been done after 2013.
I guess we'll find out!
I'll post a picture when I get home.

Typically embellishments are permitted on wall hangings as many people consider them to be a type of "art quilt". You could always contact the committee if it's really going to bug you between now & the show, but generally I'd think you're okay. Good luck! Hope you win!

Every place has their own rules- contact the fair board in charge of the exhibits and ask. Our fair here accepts most everything, there are just specific categories and you have to enter your project in the correct one.
