What about using old sewing patterns? They are very cheap all the at thrift stores etc. and I often wondered if they would work.

Newsprint is a certain weight of drawing paper:

No ink on it unless you add it. I have a pad for messing around with rulers.

When the first computerized sewing machines came out, we used to use adding machine tape until Sew Perfect came out. This was a fabric stiffener that washed out. If you want a liquid, dissolve some washaway stabilizer in water. You can spritz it on.

I get newsprint from the local newspaper. You can buy leftover rolls for $1 a roll, which has thousands of feet of paper left. My paper uses 2 different sizes. The large, 2 sheet rolls and the small single sheet roll.

This works great. Also good for my grandkids to draw and paint on.

You can also use heavy starch on your fabric....

If you iron newspaper before you use it the ink will not rub off. Try it.

I have heard of using old telephone book pages but don't know if that will rub off on your fabric. I guess a rubbing test would tell you. Of course telephone books are becoming rarer & rarer these days.

i think ink from newspaper will smear and stain fabric , for some reason phone book ink doesn,t the only way is do a test on a small piece of fabric then you can see if that is what you wanted to look like

I assume you mean plain newsprint, not a newspaper...right?
