Macybaby, I really like your background too. It was worth the search. At first I thought you had done something different but then I realized it was the effect that the different colors have. This is going to be really fun to see the different combinations.

RJ, I'm also here on the Olympic Peninsula and you're right, the weather has finally come through for us. Good luck on your back recovery.

Conchalea, My mom and dad also tried to hit (by car ) all the courthouses in Michigan. I don't know if they ever got them all. I'll have to ask my mom, she's 102.
32 women in my group met up for this ride. I don't like big group rides, plus the courthouses in the northeast corner of Texas were calling me. I rode to different ones each day, & a few others I've infected with the courthouse bug came along. I ended up getting 17 courthouses on this trip, making my current total 171 of the 254 in Texas. Only 83 to go! I've been very tired since getting home, and sewing was a good activity for me on this warm & sunny day. My grand total of miles in one day is 426-not even a half-iron.[/QUO

I am not sure I would like riding with that large of a group---but sounds like fun *collecting* courthouses!! Of course you live in a huge state so there are lots

To RJ & Whitepine-I’ve been riding to courthouses since I got my first Harley in spring of ‘07. I didn’t do a lot of long-distance traveling on her, a small sportster. This adventure has really taken me to some interesting places! Our group split into 3-4 smaller ones since 32 bikes in one group is hard to manage & keep together. Also, some like to ride faster & farther than others do.
I have to admit I didn’t cut all 108 HSTs before my trip, so I work on those interspersed with the new directions we got yesterday. I don’t have enough done to put it together yet, but the snowballed background pieces look great! If I’d get off the computer I might get some sewing done.

I spent several hours trimming hst’s before I could even begin to think about putting a block together. I am pressing seams open, I’d forgotten how much longer it takes to do that and then there's pinning it all so the seams match. But it’s worth it, no lost points and it lays flat as a pancake. One down and 19 to go. I love this block, I think it’s going to be a pretty quilt!

Conchalea and RJ: I can't imagine riding that far on a motorcycle. However, I have never driven one but my sons have had 'rockets' and they didn't like riding long distances or with a large group. My oldest will be selling his rocket and getting a real motorcycle. Also, Conchalea: Looking for courthouses would be an interesting hobby.
Well, my hubby talked me into the first 1000 mile one---and it wasnt bad at all---of course I have a backrest on my bike and memory foam in the seat....I cant even imagine riding any distance at all on a #rocket"..they don't look very comfy at all.
