    You are doing great! While the eyes are very realistic, the creamy fabric bothers me. I think I'd like a whiter fabric there especially since the rest of the dog is all blacks, greys and whites. I also agree with the part below his nose being lighter so that there is more differentiation between the nose and the body. A split in that part might help that, too.

    Your black lab is stunning!!!! We have had labs for many years and love them;so, we are very familiar with their endearing expressions. Your is just perfect. I think red would be wonderful in the background; maybe something of a batik or print with movement in it as opposed to solid. I will be anxious to see the finished quilt.

    Your quilt looks outstanding! I am humbled by your skill...there is no way I could stitch up anything nearly as lifelike. And it is such a thoughtful gift for your DH.
