Got a bunch of squishies today! F8's from cuppy, kareno, and Quiltaddiction, and a block from GrandmaDi.

As soon as I get my work area cleared off, I'll get caught up on taking photos of the blocks that arrived in the last few days, and start working on the F8's that have arrived. Over the weekend, we made a prototype rain/sun hood for my recumbent trike, along with new flags, and it looks like a tornado swept through my craft/sewing room! Here's a photo of my trike, with the hood on. The mounting bracket's not finalized yet. Right now it's a piece of plywood. LOL! My husband built our trikes, using recycled parts from broken bikes. We go riding nearly every weekend, and have put close to 800 miles on the bikes so far. He's going to re-paint mine a brighter red (right now it's dark red), and he's going to paint his blue and it'll have a blue hood. The flags match ... and they're quilted!

Okay, I've added the received blocks to my album, and it's up to date now. Thanks so much! I love every one of them!

Got my grown up block today from Moonrise! My first one. And I absolutely LOVE it! Dresden plate with a modern twist, a perfect match for that funky fabric!

Thanks! We first saw a pair of recumbent trikes last year when we were driving through a local park, and I couldn't believe it! I've got a bad knee due to a fall in the shower several years ago, and riding a regular bike isn't possible, but I was sure I could ride a recumbent trike. We hurried home, did some searching on the internet, thinking they'd cost maybe $500 or $600. We were ready to buy two of them right then and there! But we were shocked when we found how much they actually are. The ones like we saw in the park are $2,200 each just for the basic model, and the prices skyrocketed from there! OUCH! That wasn't in the budget at all. But we kept looking, and read online that some people had built their own. DH is quite handy, and we found some plans online, so he gave it a try, and within just a couple of months, he had the first trike built, and the second one followed shortly afterwards. We ended up spending around $500 for both of them. We had to buy a welder, steel, vinyl for the seats, various odds and ends, and some used and broken bikes (some free; some not) but $500 is infinitely better than spending $4,400 or more.

Here's a video I made a couple of months ago. It's loud for the first couple of seconds. A noisy truck was passing by on the road behind us. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WR2YBfkGc_I

And here's a rather funny video of the very first time DH took my freshly-built trike out for a test ride. It still needed lots of adjustments, especially getting the gears right, and he couldn't initially climb our hill. He pedaled as far as it would go, then said, "I'm stuck". The way he said it still cracks me up! The seat was just plywood at that time, and the steel was bare metal. He didn't want to paint it or do the seat covering until the mechanical kinks had been worked out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwZ5Yv6BXkA

We've had a BLAST with them!

Mailing a grown-up block home to atpegsquiltstudio this morning (mailing both this group's block and the Celaeno block in the same envelope). Hope you like them!

Anyone interested in an extra swap?

I have 10 so far but would like several more. I am sending out an Asian butterfly fabric I bought while living in Japan.

    Let me know,

I love seeing the blocks posted here on the board. I think this encourages people who aren't in the swap to join another time. I know that's what 'hooked me'. I would never have thought about looking in albums when I started. We are away on vacation for a bit. I did bring F8's with me for the few that were delivered before we left. I'll update when we get back.

Got 4 F8s yesterday and a finished block from Moon...I didnt have internet at home OR cable so I couldnt post pictures of the 4 or 5 that I have ready to mail or of the finished one from moon. Ill do that tonight if Sudden Link decides to get off their butts and fix the neighborhoods cable. POOR customer service to make us wait until the next work day when there are several houses out! ughhhh..... I do have a question for Cuppy...who is the F8 gonna be for with the flip flops on it? There was no note with it...boy or girl? colors?? Its so cute!! Hope I can post pictures tonight!
