This tool came with my Janome 7700.I asked my shop owner what she thought of them and she said they don't work unless you use bias tape made for binding. I havn't used it,but had decided it was probably more bother to use or even impossible.I'd like to know if anyone has successful used them and that the binding looks smooth.

the binding tool requires commercilly prepared binding to work correctly. they send yardage to the manufacturer where it is cut, sized and rolled at the correct tension...what you end up with is strip of flat hundreds of yards long that is sewn on as single fold binding....the join is a sad thing indead....the consumer has to fix it by hand or it comes apart in the first wash.

That's not quilting, that's piecework. As in they get paid by the completed piece. Can you say, "Sweatshop!?"

I sure would like the binding machine. The quilters are pretty fast. I sure hope they wash those quilts before they sell them.

A few years back I went to a little class by Viking Husquvarna, and they had one that only did single fold binding, so I didn't get one since I put a 2 fold binding on my quilts. But lately I've been thinking - what if you just did the single fold - TWICE, but in 2 different colors!!! wouldn't it give the strength as well as adding a decorative element???? The big question - how much do they cost?

Exactly what they are! How would you like to work there with those "men" looking over you should all day long. I'm sure they were on their "good behavior" because the camera was there. I hate to think of the physical toll it takes.
