I use lukewarm water, detergent and oxi-clean (4 scoops) and a fairly full tub of water. I agitate it on gentle just a few minutes to make sure everything is mixed well...let it soak overnight and then let it finish running through on the gentle cycle. I dried it in the dryer on low heat.

Beautiful. I probably would have left it to. I didn't know Oxy Clean would do such a wonderful job cleaning old quilts. I will have to try it on my grandmother's quilt. Thanks for the tip.

The maker probably wanted a family member to love it for generations. Sadly, that doesn't happen as often as it should. Fortunately you love it enough to salve her soul and gave all of us a chance to admire it too! So glad you saw past the stains!

That is beautiful and glad you were able to get it. I have done x-stitch and know how much work went into that. Hope the person that made it never finds out that it was given away!
