I never heard of this. I looked them up and it would be so much cheaper if it worked. Looks like they replace the 45 mm though when you do the conversion for the 1.75" I saw advertised it comes out to 44.5 mm.

Has anyone tried the actual carpet cutter or does it not go down far enough to cut cloth?

Never tried the actual cutter but I use the blades all the time and never had a problem.

The cutter itself is not like our rotary handles. It has a slot that you put the carpet in to cut. Don't think it would work.

I wonder if Harbor Freight has more than one supplier for these blades. The ones I bought work great and I can't tell any difference between them and the expensive blades.

I've had good luck with them. Also used one to cut 100 large paper hexagons for an English paper piecing project and I just threw it away when I was finished knowing it had cost all of 75 cents. If I have a problem in the future I'll remember to make sure it's not too tight but so far I've been very happy with my purchase of HF carpet blades.

The carpet cutter will NOT work on fabric.

I agree with you. I bought 5 paks after everyone was raving about them. They would not cut my material at all and I tried several different pieces of fabric. Should have known it was too good to be true.

Out of about 10 packages I have had one bad blade so for. I have opened 3 of the packages and they all work great except for the one mentioned. Sorry you are having problems with them...

Mine work fine. Those blades on fit the cutters with the round hole. Not the Ofla ones with the weird center.

As with anything one will get "duds" once in a while, I have had the same issues with the expensive ones. For all we know they could be from the same manufacturer. Different packaging, same product.

My husband sees this in his power tools....
Dewalt is Black and Decker with a yellow casing.
Porter Cable, Rigid, Black and Decker, Dewalt, Craftsman, Hitachi are manufactured in Asia at the same factory just different colored housings.
The company is know known as Stanley/Black and Decker.

Yes, I found a couple out of about 8 to be duds, but at $1.25 each, it is still such a bargain!!
