Beautiful. I like the idea of a large leaf quilted in the plain squares.

This quilt is really cute and so perfect for a little girl with the lady bugs. Because it is for a child I would go whimsical and wonky. So in each plain square I would do a big primitive flower. You could either do a daisy type flower or try Angela Walter's technique called flower power which is really nothing more than clam shells quilted in concentric circles starting from the middle and getting bigger. Super simple and really hides if your clam shells are wonky or crooked. If you google images of Angela walters flower you will see an example. Grab yourself some scratch paper or a white board and practice drawing it to size about 10 times and you will be able to quilt it no problem, I promise!

For the lady bug blocks you could just outline them or do minimal quilting in them. If you are going to quilt in the sashing i would not background quilt the lady bugs. But if you are NOT quilting the sashing then background quilt the lady bugs with minimal quilting in the bugs. You could do a meander or all over leaves.

If you opt to quilt in the sashing, you can do a simple back and forth lines and treat the white and red as one piece. In the outer borders you could do a leaf and vine in the green stripe. Once that is done you would have to decide if the black part with green in it needs something.
