I have always used Sharon Schamber's binding angel tutorial but I did save the first one Prism posted as it looks full proof. Thanks!

Watson
THAT was a terrific video! Although I've (finally!!) mastered this technique, it would have been a lot sooner if I'd seen this video first.

This is the best, most clear tute I've ever seen on how to end the binding.

But you don't need that ruler. You don't need to measure because the measurement needed to cut off the end is right there on your binding. Before I start to sew on the binding, I press a triangle into the beginning of the binding strip. Lay the binding on the quilt as you are going to sew it, open it out flat and fold down the end into the magic triangle. The raw end of the end of the strip is now matching the raw edge of the rest of the binding and the raw edge of the quilt. Press this very well. This is your sewing line at the end. Refold the binding strip and start sewing 6 to 8 inches away from that end to the other end as in the video, stopping 12 to 16 inches from where you started.
(It helps to put a pin in where you will want to stop.)
Now cut the tail as shown in the video, but use that triangle as the measurement. The base of the triangle is the length you want the overlap.
Hope you can make sense of this and hope it makes your life easier.

PS I looked at the video again and she doesn't show that you need to press that last seam open and then trim it. All binding seams need to be pressed open, even the last one.

Sharon Schamber is how I learned but IMO this man does a much clearer demo.

I bought a very inexpensive tool to help with that. Also there is a youtube video done by Missouri quilt Co. on how to use it that I often refer too. Works perfectly every time. The tool is called "The Binding Tool" by Tom Products. I think I found it on Amazon. Hope this helps.

This one is good. The binding tool is too confusing.

When you "crunch" your quilt use a black spring loaded clip to hold the quilt together and stitch across the waist not the crotch when joining the binding.
