Need Help with Dresden Plate Please

Thank you all for the information. With all of your suggestions in mind, I've decided to hand applique the Dresden Plates to the background fabric. I sure don't want to take a chance on the invisible thread breaking after a few years of use, and I'm not happy with the look of machine stitched applique on this quilt.

I made this one and hand-appliqued with matching embroidery floss with a blanket stitch. I love the old-fashioned look of that with the old-fashioned look of the dresden! I also hand-quilted it.

I have my dresen 16 blocks still in progress. I was waiting on my square ruler to square them up before sashing. I love this quilt. I am going very careful to get this on almost perfect. i used a small zigzag around each plate. I still have the middles to do.
