Hello and welcome from another newbie!

I'd recommend that you stay away from anything with triangles in it, and keep the seam matching to a minimum! Can you tell that those are my bugaboos?

Above all, have fun and don't stress too much!

Hello and welcome. I started quilting using the Log Cabin pattern, fairly simple. You could make a Warm Wishes quilt as well. I found that one to be quite easy.

Hi and welcome from Alaska. Start with something simple. Rail fence or something that does not need lining up of seams.

Hi IrmaGail: Welcome! I might suggest a nine patch, easy straight stitching and not too overwhelming. You can even alternate the nine patch squares with a focus print so only half as many need to be pieced. Good luck with whatever you choose. Let us see your efforts when you're ready.
