Yes, that's the reason! I don't remember who to give credit to for this, but I read in someones blog to slide a marble under the layers to lift them off the floor. Makes pinning so much easier and saves the floor!
I use a ping pong ball

I agree witth QuiltinLady1...you may be able to move mountains, but you can't move a big dog(s)...my Devil Doggie is only fascinated with the foot controls...lol
